My morning accomplishment

It is just barely 7:00 a.m. and I already feel that I have accomplished something for the day. It’s not art, but it’s something that I have been wanting for years, decades! A small water feature in my backyard.

I may not have a pond or a Babbling Brook in the backyard, which I certainly have room for, but many years ago I came into contact with a cute little water fountain shaped like a couple tree trunks with birds nests on them & a couple Birds and I just knew it would be the most adorable fountain. I don’t remember where I found it. It could have been at a yard sale it could have been at the side of the road it has been so many years that it has been just sitting on my deck waiting to burst into action. It was missing one key part, a pump! Well, that should have been easy enough to rectify and why I didn’t, I can’t even tell you. But a couple of days ago, we were in Lowe’s, and I saw the pumps, and they spoke to me. So I bought one that looked like the right size, brought it home, and it sat on the counter for 2 days.

This morning, I looked at it and said, Yes! Today is the day. And I wrestled open the package, took it out to the back deck, and put it in place. That’s all there was to it! I filled the cavity of the fountain with water, and plugged in the pump and lo and behold we have a fountain. I really wish I hadn’t waited so long. Is this as encouragement to do whatever it is that you’ve been holding back on.

You’re Invited!!

I don’t know how many of you that read my blog are from the Peoria, IL area, but I thought it’d be nice to invite you to one of my … Hmm what do I call them.. well Evening Events…. there are 4 of them and 2 are painting, but the other 2 are not… you decide!

I am having a Wine & Paint nite at my studio, in fact, (It would be so fun to meet someone who is reading this!!) and a couple others that are not painting per se.

No. 1 – you don’t have to drink wine, you can bring anything you want, like margaritas… or soda.

No. 2 – I cannot (and therefore won’t be) serve alcohol, but we are all allowed to have it in the building, which means…. BYOB!! (legal issues)

No. 3 – I will have my own wine there, but am open to tasting (mostly) whatever  people bring! LOL

You deserve to relax and have fun after a long week of working hard!  Here are the Details and there is a link below that shows pictures and more details, and signup buttons if you are still interested.

OMG! The colors!!!

I was writing a note in a document that I started in preparation for a book. I tell people things that happened in my younger years and they always tell me I should write a book. So I figured as I think of them, I’ll add them to this document, and someday, it’ll be a book.

So this one ‘colorful’ memory went like this:
“When I was 14 years old my parents allowed me to choose the colors to paint my bedroom in our new house. My bedroom was a small rectangle so I chose lime green and a dark royal blue, darker than royal blue but not quite Navy. Of course, I did the two long walls lime green and the two short and walls were the dark blue. That way it wouldn’t make the room look smaller than it already was. Door frames and window frames were on the short ends so they got the lime green trim. Someday I may tell you about the invisible black light reactive paint I splattered on the ceiling. Do you think I was maybe artistic back then?”

After typing this it got me to thinking about that invisible reactive paint… and I wondered if they still made it. And I knew that if ANYONE had it… it’d be … Amazon! OH YA!! Guess what I found…and although the instructions clearly say ” Apply with brush or roller.” I can assuredly add to that list… Squirt guns.

Here you can see it for yourself and they have a picture of what it looks like when you turn on a black light!

So you might imagine my mother’s reaction when she walked in one time when the blacklight was on, and the ceiling light off…. OH MY… I had to convince her it would ‘go away’ when the black light was off… I wonder if that is why we moved….
